Power Armoured Paint: First Founding Doubles Report

It's time to venture into the Vault once more. I recently attended First Founding's Warhammer 40,000 tournament, where my Carcharodons Astra took to the battle field partnered with force of Deathwatch Space Marines.  How did we fare? Well let's find out!

Regimental Reporting: Octoberfest Debrief

Welcome back to the Officers Mess! I recently attended First Founding's Octoberfest 40K tournament with my Cadian 82nd Imperial Guard army.  I had a great time, but alas did not cover myself in glory, losing (albeit narrowly in some cases) all my games.

Rather than going into full blown battle reports I thought I'd share a few pictures and words from each battle, then some ideas for improving my performance going forward.  Cadia will arise again!

Game 1 was against Andrew's freshly painted Primaris Space Marines in a modified Four Pillars mission:

Regimental Reporting: The Octoberfest Offensive

Welcome to the Parade Ground my fellow Officers!  I've finished painting and basing the new units for the upcoming Octoberfest tournament at First Founding, and I thought it would be fun to share a few army pictures.

The list submission deadline is not for a week or so, but I've decided to publish the post with the list early to stop my indecision, second guessing and last minute list changes!

First up are the characters:

Power from Paint: Mayhem 19 Raid Report

Welcome back to the Vault once more! The Kabal of the Sand Viper have raided Real Space once more and returned to Commorragh with a bittersweet mix of Glory and Woe to in equal measure!

Last weekend I attended First Founding's Mayhem 2019 40K tournament (playing my Dark Eldar army) and I thought I'd share a few pictures and thoughts of the event. The day was to be the first table top outing for my newly completed Succubus and I was keen to let her loose on the battle field.

Power from Paint: First Founding Doubles Report

Welcome back to my dark corner of Commoragh, my fellow Archons! The Kabal of the Sand Viper went to war allied with the mysterious Ynari at the First Founding Doubles Tournament.  Whilst the dice of fate were somewhat cruel and fickle to us, my team mate and I both had a fun day at a well run event.

Power from Paint: Team Fluffy Space Pixies are Go!

Welcome back to my little corner of Commoragh my fellow Archons! If you've been following my posts in recent weeks you will know I've been painting some new models and getting some practice games in for a 40K Doubles Tournament next weekend. It's been something of a Vault tradition for me to write a show and tell army post before the event takes place, and if I can sneak a look at some of the submitted army data (not the lists themselves before you ask!) to indulge in some Chart Hammer.

So here's the Kabal of the Sand Viper ready to raid Real Space once more!

SELWG Show 2018: The Pictures

Time for a bonus mid week post! On Sunday I braved the challenges that are Southern Rail's Replacement Bus Service and ventured to Crystal Palace to attend SELWG Show 2018. SELWG (South East London Wargames Group) is an annual war games show, and whilst not on the scale of Salute (is anything else on the scale of Salute?) there are plenty of games, demos and traders to tempt a gamer out for a day.

The standard of the tables was pretty high, and there was a variety of periods, genres and scales in attendance; there really did seem to be something for everyone. And of course I took some pictures to give you all a flavour! (I utterly failed to note down (or even take pictures) of the names of most of the games and the groups who so kindly brought them along. Apologies to all.)

I'll start with a few pictures of some of my favourite tables (click on the pictures to enlarge them):

The Kabal of the Sand Viper have returned from another Real Space Raid; this time to First Founding's Octoberfest 18 tournament. The Dark Eldar experienced a mix set of results, as we shall see!

Regimental Reporting: Tank Company 'Righteous Fire" After Action Report

It's time for another well deserved trip to the Officer's Mess! I've mentioned recently that I've been thinking about taking some Leman Russ tanks to the upcoming Octoberfest tournament, and I've played a game to try out the draft list.

This was the first run out for my newly painted tanks:

Power From Paint: Mischief and Mayhem

Another Realspace raid has been completed by the Kabal of the Sand Viper and what a difference to our previous outing! Yesterday I attended the First Founding Mayhem 2018 tournament, so here is a brief report. As per usual I won't be writing a blow by blow Bat Rep (as my memory is terrible), but I took some pretty pictures and will add a few words around them.

Power from Paint: Ready to Raid

Welcome once again my fellow Archons. Today is a bonus mid-week post, as I've finished the painting on the last model for my Dark Eldar raiding party for Saturday's Octoberfest.

It's the obligatory finished army picture post (and some tournament ramblings of course)!

Power from Paint: New Hammer Boot Camp

Welcome back to the Vault my fellow Archons. This weekend has seen the UCM put to one side as the gang got together for our inaugural game of 8th edition. The Cult of the Sand Viper (my Dark Eldar forces) faced off in battle against Duncan's Space Wolves, and Paul's lovely new Sisters of Battle force.

We were a man down on our usual gang of four, so decided to try out a 3 way game so we could learn the rules as a group, and luckily the new 40K rule book has a really rather good set of multi player rules and mission.

Target Prioritisation: Looking beyond the New Hammer 40K Rules

Welcome back to the Vault faithful readers. Something a little more philosophical for this post, but fear not I'll throw in a few pictures as a bonus, as the hobby and gaming fun continues.

If you are involved in the wargaming hobby you will no doubt be aware of the upcoming new 8th edition of Warhammer 40,000 and of the social media campaign that the Games Workshop staff have been running.  This has had a hugely positive response from the 40K online community, and is I hope a good sign for the rule set itself. Because the ramifications of these rules go well beyond what model moves when and what the 6 on the dice means.

Stay on Target

Power from Paint: Dark Eldar Mayhem

So Mayhem is nearly upon us so its time to unveil my army list with associated pictures and fluff. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be giving any of my opponents too much of an advantage with an early reveal and if you've had the patience to read through my earlier Power from Paint articles I think you are due a look at the final goods! Warning this post is very image and word heavy.
