March To Victory: A Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team Tournament

I will be hosting First Founding Club’s inaugural March to Victory Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team Tournament alongside some open gaming on Saturday the 4th March 2017 between 12:00 and 18:00.

The event is being coordinated and registration handled on Facebook on the Club's Page but I thought posting a more legible version of the Kill Team tournament pack here would be useful for attendees. If you aren't a First Founding regular but fancy attending drop a comment below!

The Kill Team Supplement

Kill Team works best on boards with a lot of terrain. If you are in a position to be able to provide some terrain for use at the event that would be fantastic.

How the tournament runs: The tournament will use the the Swiss Pairs system, games will be scored as follows:

Win = 5 Tournament points
Draw = 2 Tournament point
Loss = 1 Tournament points

Each round your Tournament points & your Victory Points will be recorded and a running total will be kept. This will be used to separate players who are on equal tournament points.

Proxies are not allowed to be used but conversions are welcome, but please make sure your opponent clearly knows what your model is.

Army Selection
Each player can spend up to 200 points on their Kill Team, in accordance with the Kill Team supplement rules, i.e. using a single codex or codex supplement and adhering to the Kill Team Detachment. Your Kill Team Leader and three specialists must be clearly marked on your army list. No Forgeworld army lists or units are permitted.

Your Kill Team will gain experience during the course of the tournament. To represent this make the following selections and clearly mark them on your army list:

Seasoned Leader: Choose a Trait from the Leader Traits Table. This Trait will be used by your Leader for the remaining games in the tournament.

Veteran Trooper: Select a 4th Kill Team specialist. His special rule must come from one of the two specialist lists you have not previously used for your Kill Team. If you cannot select a 4th Kill Team specialist (due to lack of models or other restrictions) then disregard this rule.

Grizzled Warrior: Select a 5th Kill Team specialist. His special rule must come from the specialist list you have not previously used for your Kill Team. If you cannot select a 5th Kill Team specialist (due to lack of models or other restrictions) then disregard this rule.

If you have any questions please contact Bryan Parke (varchilde@gmail.com)

Missions & Deployment
Kill Team mission special rules and Codex exceptions as noted in the Kill Team supplement will be utilised with the following additions:

Limited forces: special rules, bonuses, etc. which would ordinarily allow the generation of additional models during a game (e.g. canoptek spiders spawning canoptek scarabs, tzentch horrors “Splitting”) cannot be used. This is in addition to the restrictions noted in “You’re on Your Own”.

Level Up: Modifications to your Kill Team for this and subsequent games.

Game 1: Forward Push. Remember to make a note of your Leader Trait

Game 2: Alone in the Dark. Level Up: The Leader Trait rolled for Game 1 is used for Game 2 and Game 3.

Game 3: Infiltrate the Camp. For this mission, models in the Attacker’s Kill Team may not embark upon Transports. Level Up: The Veteran Trooper Specialist may be used in this and all subsequent games.

Game 4: Secure the High Ground. Level Up: The Seasoned Leader Trait may be used in this and all subsequent games.

Game 5: Supply Drop. Level Up. The Grizzled Warrior Specialist may be used in this and all subsequent games.

Game 6: Head Hunt.

Setup: Players should then exchange army lists and talk to their opponent, to make sure both players know what each other is using.

Players will then roll off to see who will place the first objective (if any).

Then once the objectives have been placed, both players will roll off to determine table sides, and then they will roll off again to see who will deploy first, the winner of this roll off gets to choose whether to deploy first and go first or second as per the rule book.
