The Gift: Session 6 Adventure Log

Session 6 begins with Nanny Ogg returning from her evening at Hearthholme's Inn, "The Boar and Tavern". Her search for information regarding Dark Eye Tavern and the surrounding hills are proven very useful:
  • There was another, older ruined tower in the Dark Eye Hills. It's structure is long gone, but local legend has it that there were rooms and tunnels below.
  • A stranger was seen some months ago near Dark Eye Tower; rumour says it was the enigmatic ranger "Hoode".
Nanny Ogg met a local farm hand called Bailey Blackthorne who claims to know the local hills well, having spent time exploring them. For a few coins he offered to show Nanny the location of a large cavern, and for a share of treasure he offered to act as a torch bearer for the party, having claimed to have worked for an adventuring party before.  He also warns Nanny Ogg not to let the Sheriff find out she's been talking about what has happened at the tower; he doesn't like people stirring trouble in town.

The party have located a second large cavern within the hills themselves. Climbing a scree slope they enter a cavern thick with spiders webs; their attempts to tear the webs attract the attention of the cavern's residents, a pair of monstrous spiders!

Power from Paint: Team Fluffy Space Pixies are Go!

Welcome back to my little corner of Commoragh my fellow Archons! If you've been following my posts in recent weeks you will know I've been painting some new models and getting some practice games in for a 40K Doubles Tournament next weekend. It's been something of a Vault tradition for me to write a show and tell army post before the event takes place, and if I can sneak a look at some of the submitted army data (not the lists themselves before you ask!) to indulge in some Chart Hammer.

So here's the Kabal of the Sand Viper ready to raid Real Space once more!

Power Armoured Paint: The Red Brethren

Hail and welcome back to the Vault my fellow Commanders! Hobby time has been precious this week but I have managed to play a 40K doubles game in advance of next month's tournament, and grab a couple of hours hobby time.

Regular readers will know I've picked my Space Sharks project back up, and today I've gone right back to where I started; the Red Brethren Terminators.  These cold blooded killers were the first unit I ever painted for the Carcharodons Astra but their bases don't match my more recent scheme. So they've been carefully removed from their old stands and placed onto the way more sexy Sector Mechanicum bases.

Power from Paint: Screaming Jets

Welcome back to my dark corner of Comorragh my fellow Archons. I've been busy applying paint to my latest Dark Eldar unit in advance of next month's First Founding Doubles Tournament and I've finished the model today.

I'm pretty pleased with the results:

Varchilde's Vault is two years old!

Christmas is fading from view whilst the New Year is well and truly here. I have another celebration to blog about today; Varchilde's Vault is now two years old!

2018 has been an enjoyable year hobby-wise. I've:
  • Played in a 40K league and attended a couple of tournaments
  • Run one Frostgrave campaign, and played in another
  • Got hooked into Kill Team (although we don't mention the Wooden Spoon)
  • Started a new D&D Campaign
  • Painted associated miniatures and terrain
  • Written comic and gaming review articles for Multiverse
Not everything was so successful; I didn't complete the Space Sharks project but I intend to revisit the Carchardons Astra this year:

Let's draw a bead on 2019...

Power Armoured Paint: Space Sharks Librarian

Happy New Year dear Venturers! I seem to have found myself in something of a Warp Storm as my first hobby post of 2019  sees me revisiting my first project of 2018, the mighty Carcharodons Astra!

Long term readers may remember I started this army for last year's Mayhem tournament, and despite having a lot of fun with it in a club league, I utterly failed to complete it in time for the event.  The Big FAQ and errata did a number on the particular rules/stratagems I was using, and so the project fell into the void for some time.

However I was given a Primaris Librarian for Christmas and I decided to paint the model as a Space Shark (painting guide here) to hopefully get my enthusiasm for the army back up again. I've completed the Librarian over a couple of leisurely painting sessions this weekend.
