Pestilential Painting: Noxious Blightbringer complete!

Welcome back to the Vectorium and hold onto your hats everyone; I've finished painting a model! The Noxious Blightbringer which has been on the painting desk for the last few weeks has been completed, and I'm pretty happy with the results. Let's take a look!

Big Ben, the grime-encrusted Campanologist is ready to hit the battle field. I've applied the usual paint scheme to the model, using Typhus Corrosion and a series of washes to achieve the weathering/dirt effects.

I've been watching some You Tube videos recently which use oil wash techniques to achieve weathering/grime effects, both through dedicated products (like AK Interactive streaking grime) and simple oil paints. I think these can be overdone, but I'd like to give them a try out on a model or two. I've never used oils on minis so this will be exciting to experiment with.

 One of the videos (from Ebay Miniatures Rescue I think), talked about interspersing bigger projects with odd models or units from other systems/factions as a means of breaking up the monotony which can result from working on (say) a whole army. A bit of a painting palette cleanser! 

This is good advice; I'm fed up painting gold trim at the moment so I'm heading off piste with a few other models (already selected from the pile of opportunity and primed) which I'm hoping to paint during my few days holiday. Hopefully this will recharge the batteries and then I can revisit the other members of the Foetid Virion.

Completing the Virion will give me ten or so models in need of basing, so that'll be another chore to attend to.

This brings us to the end of another post. As I mentioned above I have a few days holiday coming up, and I'd like to post another article or two. There's the inevitable painting updates, but I also fancy having a go at writing a guide for Wildfire Druids for D&D. There are some good review articles/videos to be found (and some questionable ones), but I think it might be fun to scribble my own thoughts having played one for a decent number of sessions now. Someone might find it useful!
